Lion’s Roar !

Public Newsletter of the Troy Lions Club

Welcome to the Lion’s Roar.  This is the sixth edition of the

Troy Lions Club’s public newsletter, a semi-annual release of news and information about the work of your local Lions Club.

The Troy Lions Club has been very busy.  Community service is very rewarding and yet we always have fun with our involvement.

Some of our activities include:

¨ Participated with all the Lions Clubs in Miami County to      collect items and ship care packages to the US troops serving overseas.  Forty-four “Roar for the Troops” packages were sent.

¨ Held “White Cane Day” in May outside local businesses.

¨ Sponsored a new Lions Club in Sidney.

¨ Had interesting programs of local interest at all of our meetings including a tour of the First Place Food pantry.

¨ Won 1st place in the district newsletter contest.

¨ Held a members-only fun auction night.

¨ Our Leo Club at Newton School worked at the Saint Patrick’s soup kitchen.

¨ Provided lunch for the Troy’s Habitat for Humanity workers.

¨ Sold chocolate covered strawberries at the Festival.

¨ Endorsed Troy Lion Sheryl Schlater to become Lions District Governor for 2010-11.
