Welcome to the Lion’s Roar.  This is the fifth edition of the

Troy Lions Club’s public newsletter, a semi-annual release of news and information about the work of your local Lions Club.

 

The Troy Lions Club has been very busy.  Community service is very rewarding and yet we always have fun with our involvement.

Some of our activities include:

 

¨ Held informative programs of local interest at all meetings    including a tour of Johnson Farm Museum.

¨ Held a Miniature Golf Benefit in July.

¨ Awarded two scholarships to High School Graduates.

¨ Funded “The Good Program” at Van Cleve School which     featured a program by a man struck blind as an adult,           promoting perseverance and making good choices.

¨ Concluded a Literacy contest with prizes awarded of book  store gift cards.

¨ Our Leo Club at Newton School presented a program on     Halloween Safety.

¨ Provided lunch for the Troy’s Habitat for Humanity workers. 

¨ Members assembled Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Child. 

¨ Collected non perishable food for food pantry.

The Troy Lions Charities is a 501 c 3 charity.  All donations are tax deductible.

One hundred percent of all donations are used for charitable purposes.

All administrative expenses are provided and donated by the Troy Lions Club.

New members (men and women) are welcome.

The Troy Lions  Club began        in 1942.  Since then we have raised and donated : 
$350,494.00
Over 80% of our charitable work has remained within Miami County.
	
In the past 6 months…
Donated a total of $7939.00 towards our charitable work.
Provided eye exams and    eyeglasses to 27 people.
Collected 1050 pairs of used eyeglasses.

Lions District Convention (April 9 & 10)
Selling chocolate covered strawberries at the Festival  (June 5 & 6)

Come for a visit…
We meet on most 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at the Hayner Cultural Center.  Members come for a meal at 6:30pm and/or program and business meeting at 7:00pm.  Meetings usually adjourn by 8:15pm.  Give us a call and we will make a reservation for you to check us out!

The Troy High School Jazz Band entertained       Lion Club workers at one of the two BBQ

   the Lions at their annual Christmas Party.          chicken /pulled pork dinners held annually.

 

Troy Lions Club’s goal is to provide voluntary service for humanitarian needs.  Our core

emphasis is on vision health.
